Fletcher Augustus DeRouen

A diary for our son, by Joe and Andrea DeRouen

Tuesday, March 23, 2004

Fletcher is 29-months-old today. He is growing like a weed. He still loves biscuits more than any other food and tells us that they are the "heart of the meal" when trying to convince us he needs one. I told him that people ride in airplanes and he got pretty excited. Then I said that at some point he and Daddy and I could go in an airplane. Now that's all he wants to talk about. His eyes just sparkle at the thought of being in an airplane.

We'll be moving in June and I'm eager to see how he feels about that. Perhaps it will just be the adventure it should be for him.

In 8 days, Fletcher will be 29 months old and a month after that 2 1/2. It's hard to believe. The time just flies by (unless I'm trying to get him to take a nap and then it crawls). Fletcher is such fun. We showed him a video of himself at a younger age and he was quite fascinated. And sometimes jealous, just sure that baby was stealing his toys.

Fletcher usually describes most things as "nice." As in nice snake, nice toy, nice Mommy. He also tells me that he has "hiphops" which means hiccups. He's very concerned about seeing birds and airplanes and the moon. He plays with his cars and likes to crash them in to each other. He asks for hugs and a "diss" (kiss). He wakes up each morning hoping he's going to McDonald's to have a biscuit. He asked for one today, but tomorrow is his day to go with Daddy to McDonald's for breakfast and Barnes & Nobles for story time.

He loves wrapping little toys up in Kleenex and giving it to us as presents. We have to unwrap the "gift" and exclaim over it to complete the game. Recently he upgraded to gift bags, finding a couple of them in the trash to use for his gift-giving.
